Gamer University has announced today that they have picked up a North American Dota 2 team. This team will compete alongside their current Peruvian team. They will be competing for the first time this weekend in the Gamer University Open #3, to be broadcast on their channel.

GU Founder us Brandon “FireFlash” Ferris made the following statement:

Everyone here at Gamer University is extremely excited to take another major step into the Dota world. We feel that Dota 2 is only going to grow larger as a staple game within the eSports scene and we intend on being on the forefront as one of the top tier teams around the game.

Ever since I hired TekniqZ to be our DotA 2 manager, I have heard nothing but great insight and knowledge as well as seen a player who really has what it takes to strive to be the best. We are extremely excited to bring to you Gamer University North America which will play under the tag GU | Player Name.USA.

GU DotA 2 Manager and Team Captain nz Sean “TekniqZ” Mascarenhas also remarked on joining Gamer University:

It was really the right time for all of us, I had known zyzz for a while and he was a very skilled player. With GU backing us it all came together, Capitalist and Gankster happened to fit in perfectly with Dfekt.

I am extremely excited to play with these guys and represent GU, All in all this looks to be the beginning of something great. I wanna thank GU for there generous sponsorship once again and will train extremely hard to give the best results possible.

The GU.USA roster will be:

nz Sean “TeKniqZ” Mascarenhas (Captain)
United States Luis “Zyzz” Perez
us Thomas “Gankster” Johnson
